Brooke Walker Carter

Ms. Brooke Walker Carter brings a variety of global experiences in community engagement and interaction, STEAM, healthy lifestyle and eating education, and urban agriculture and technology development.  Most recently, Brooke has served as the Chief STEAM Navigator of M-Powerhouse of Greater Pittsburgh, where she is currently head of the first Robotics and Aeronautical Program and the team of students from University Preparatory School - in the Hill District - and is leading the team to victory in the First Lego League (FLL) competition.  She will also be leading and assisting in the development of other M-powerhouse programs in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics areas.

 

Brooke has been developing her company, Healthy Soul Enterprises, for the past 5 years in order to catalyze change, through innovation. The mission of Healthy Soul  is to create a dynamic ecosystem where sustainability, health/wellness, agriculture, technology, real estate, culture, and community unite to create a brighter future.  Headquartered in Washington, DC, Healthy Soul serves as a catalyst for change, igniting communities to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Brooke completed various business incubator programs including Blast Furnace Business Incubator Program and The Forge Incubator Program through the Big Idea Center at Pitt, where she was developing her first company -Healthy Soul- an innovative food and beverage company.  She first launched the company on The University of Pittsburgh’s campus in 2019 in order to provide nutritious food to the students on Pitt’s campus. Healthy Soul provided meals for various organizations on campus as well as the entire campus during the Annual Black History Month Dinner at The Eatery, formerly Market Central.  Since its conception, Healthy Soul has provided services in partnership with brands like Miss Black USA, Avi8ted Thoughts, The Quirk Group, The Madness Shop, Courvoisier, Top Tier Columbia, American Lamb Board, The Mint Foundation, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

 

Beyond this work, Brooke served as a key member of Avi8ted House, serving as the Head of Content Creation and Head of Catering/Food Businesses.  In Partnership with Avi8ted House, Healthy Soul has held various workshops, networking events, training sessions, community events, and more attracting people from all over the nation.  Healthy Soul also provided meals and beverages during Avi8ted Sundays, a conversation and networking series curated to uplift our community and inspire actionable change for the Washington-Metropolitan Area, leading to Avi8ted house nominations for a Comcast commercial and for DC Mayor Bowser’s Art and Innovation Award.

 

Additionally, Brooke has over 8-years of experience as a consultant in the fields of Information Technology and Social Media Marketing. Furthermore, Brooke has created various community organizations and groups in the areas of art, healthy living, food and plant education, fitness, and more.

 

Brooke is currently enrolled in The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and The School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh.  At Pitt, she assisted in forming the first Casting Director of Pitt Film and Theatre Arts and served in that position for 2 years.  She currently is a member of Pitt Robotics and Automation Society, Pitt Computer Science Club, Pitt Information Science Club, and Healthy Soul Artist’s Club.  She has been a member of The Food and Beverage Network (FAB) of Food 21 since 2019 and was a Co-Author of Coronavirus, Food, and Inequality White Paper Series for Food 21 in 2020.
